Tasting Notes: Fresh lemon and pear aromas give way to tropical passion fruit on the nose.  Crisp acidity and a hint of oak add to the texture and wonderful fruit flavours linger on the palate. Exceptional value. 

Story of Wine: The Leeuwenkuil grapes were tank fermented using natural yeast and blended with a smaller portion of barrel-fermented wine from 37-old-vines from Welgegund Farm.

It is with great pride that we welcome Redemption Chardonnay to our range of superior quality, yet surprisingly affordable wines. This full-bodied wine has excellent mouthfeel, infused with floral notes, crisp citrus and luscious white peach. Some may be surprised by the absence of any time spent in wooden barrels, but we reckon we know we’re onto something special here.

Redemption Chardonnay

It seems there is some confusion as to whether it is Shiraz or Syrah. It is in fact the same grape varietal, a different style. Some say Shiraz, some say Syrah, we don’t really mind what you call it, as long as you enjoy it as much as we do. 

Somesay offers an amalgamation of red fruit dusted with delicate nuances of pink peppercorns, sandalwood and white tea. On the palate, well-judged oak adds spice, while the fruit intensity of black cherry and mulberry takes the lead. Aromas of tomato leaf and oregano bring a savoury depth, while the classic expression of balance lies in its polished tannin and mouth-coating salinity.

Most of the fruit is sourced from Stellenbosch and Cederberg vineyards, while a small percentage comes from Ceres, Swartland and Piekenierskloof. This is a proudly South African red blend made from 100% Syrah.

Confident and focused. The wine has an intriguing perfume of bruised violets and frankincense. Cooler aromas of rosemary and mint meld with sweeter oak-derived flavours of cloves and smoke, revealing a deeper core of cassis and plum.

Undoubtedly full-bodied with an expert balance of oak, integrated tannin and acidity brightening the palate. Great concentration, tension and persistence make for a complex and elegant wine.
