Tasting Notes: A crowd-pleasing medium-bodied wine with typical Cab flavours of red and black berries and cigar box with a touch of toasty oak. The wine has a lovely rich mid-mouth texture and a long, fruit-driven finish with fresh acid and firm tannins which will soften with a little bottle age.

Story of Wine: Cabernet Sauvignon is mostly sourced from the Bottelary area of Stellenbosch, Agter Paarl and Swartland. Fermented with Bordeaux yeast strains in tank with French oak staves, and completed malolactic fermentation and maturation on staves for 4 months.

Tasting Notes: An elegant and subtle wine, with an aroma of peach and hints of salty earthiness. The wine has a creamy finessed texture with a long finish. It is bone dry. 

Story of Wine: These grapes were harvested from two adjacent blocks of unirrigated 44 year old vines in the “horse shoe” just above the town of Wellington. The vines grow in Tukulu soil, a well - drained decomposed granite soil, yellow brown in colour. The vineyard is a certified heritage vineyard under South Africa’s Old Vine Project, designed to preserve the surviving old vineyards of South Africa. The fruit was harvested between 23 and 24 balling, whole-bunch pressed and settled before being fermented in barrel and tank with natural wild yeast. The press was very gentle, yielding only around 550 litres of juice per tonne for optimum quality. The wine was matured in both French oak barrels and tank, with one new tight grain 500 litre barrel and two seasoned barrels, plus 700 litres of tank fermented wine. Fermentation was very slow helping build a beautiful texture for the wine.

MEMA03R - Malbec

Vinification

Grapes are processed into a variety of stainless steel, French oak and concrete open fermenters for the duration of fermentation. 4-5 Punch downs took place daily for optimal extraction for the first 2/3 of fermentation, and there after only gentle pump overs were performed. The wines were left on their skins for 21 days of post fermentation maceration before pressing took place. Wines underwent malolactic fermentation in barrel for optimal oak integration.

Maturation
Wines were left to age in a variety of French oak and concrete vessels. After approximately 22 months wines were removed from their ageing vessels, then blended, and prepared for bottling. The wines were kept in bottle for 2 years before release.

Winemaker`s notes
The initial aromas provide layers of plums, cassis, and dark red fruits. This leads into a textured midpalate with typical Simonsberg and varietal characters such as; peppercorn, cranberries, mulberry and a variety of spices. The wine finishes off with soft, velvety tannins with hints of pencil lead.

Food pairing
This wine is excellent on its own, but pairs brilliantly with a variety of red meat dishes such as duck, veal, and lamb.

Tasting Notes: Deep rich garnet colour, with punchy eucalyptus and cassis notes on the nose, leading into hints of tobacco and cigar box.  This Cabernet Sauvignon is well balanced with a big mouth feel but, yet soft and accessible tannins.

Pairing: Pairs well with red meat dishes, especially grilled steaks and roast lamb.

Story of Wine: The grapes for this wine were sourced from Kasteelsig in the Swartland, Leeuwenkuil in Agter Paarl and vineyards in the Voor Paardeberg. The grapes were hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed before being barrel-fermented. Both wild and commercial yeast strains were used. Southern Rhône white blends served as inspiration for this wine.

Story of Wine:"This range of wines comprises small volume, premium wines from exclusive and sustainably-farmed vineyards.
The Chenin Blanc grapes were harvested from 20-year-old bush vines in the Paardeberg area of the Swartland, vines of a similar age in Agter Paarl, 43-year-old heritage vines from Wellington.  A little Roussanne from the Paardeberg was added for finesse."

Tasting Notes: Red fruit, smoked meat and mixed spice abound. This is an expressive wine with good acidity, smooth tannins, and plenty of cranberries, sour cherries and a touch of liquorice on the palate.

Story of Wine: The Grenache came from dry-farmed bush vines on a western-facing slope above Wellington on Tukulu soil. Syrah was from the organically-certified Kasteelsig vineyard in the Swartland. The grapes were 20% whole-bunch fermented in small vessels with manual punchdowns. The wine was pressed into barrels, 15% of which were new, where it spent 8 months.

Tasting Notes: Our Meinert Sauvignon Blanc certainly speaks to the more serious side of Sauvignon Blanc while having enough youthful charm to appease all palates at every occasion. Whether as the perfect aperitif or accompaniment to a gastronomic experience, our Sauvignon Blanc is most certainly a wine to have in your cellar year-round. Enjoyable in its youth, this wine will further develop under careful cellaring conditions for years to come

Story of Wine: After careful selection and hand harvesting, our Sauvignon Blanc fruit from vineyards in Elgin was transported by means of refrigerated truck to our winery and further cooled overnight in our cold room to 5°C. About a third of the total harvest underwent 12 hours’ skin contact to enhance the development of unique Sauvignon Blanc characteristics. The juice was tank fermented in two lots by different yeast strains to enhance complex fruit aromatics. Lees contact for a period of six months after fermentation adds texture and richness on the midpalate and finish. The wine was bottled in November 2018. A portion of the Semillon, which was fermented and matured in old barriques adding depth and richness, was included in the blend; the total Semillon component amounting to 12.5%.

Pairing: A match with delicate dishes like fresh seafood salads, oysters and even tuna tartare with a very subtle wasabi sauce
